We (Maria & Henry) went in the beautiful summer weather on Memorial Day to Øster Strarup cemetery, where the American airman Jack D. Hodge who crashed during WW2, is buried. We wanted to place an American flag at the grave to honour Jack D. Hodge, who died, so that we in Denmark could get our freedom from the German occupation. “Fell for his country and for ours” as it says on the tombstone. When we arrived at the cemetery, we were pleasantly surprised that the American Embassy had already been there with very beautiful floral decorations.
The flag we placed has its own history, it has been placed at a veteran’s grave at “The Burying Ground at King’s Chapel in Boston“. Read the story of the flag’s journey from Boston to Denmark here.
The Burying Ground at King’s Chapel in Boston”.

Thanks, Cox for your comment. I hope it was OK to use the Memorial Day picture you sent to Maria’s post. I could not find any better.
